Exercise Physiology

Accredited Exercise Physiologists are University qualified allied health professionals who specialize is the use of exercise to manage and prevent injuries and chronic diseases. All our Accredited Exercise Physiologists are registered with Exercise and Sport Science Australia and are required to complete a minimum level of professional development each year. Exercise physiology provides a welcoming, friendly environment to enable safe and effective exercise. Exercise Physiologists can assist with the management and prevention of a number of conditions including:

  • Diabetes
  • Osteoporosis
  • Workplace or motor accident injuries
  • Cardiovascular disease
  • Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease
  • Arthritis
  • Lower back pain
  • Cancer

Exercise Physiologists can also assist athletes through injury prevention measures and sport specific strength and conditioning programing.

At your initial consultation, your exercise physiologist will assess your current condition, functional capacity, limitations, strength, mobility and balance. Your exercise physiologist will work with you to develop a treatment and exercise plan to assist you with achieving your goals.

Do I Need a Referral?

Exercise Physiologists treat clients through a range of referral pathways, while referral is not always required it is necessary for externally funded customers. Workers Compensation and Motor Vehicle Claims require referral or pre-approval. Medicare or DVA clients will require a valid referral.

Private paying patients do not require referral. Rebates are now available through most major private health funds, check with your provider to see if you are eligible for a rebate on your exercise physiology sessions.
